Dear Parents,
Hope you all have a healthy and fruitful Year of the Pig! We're very excited to celebrate the Lunar New Year with our new webpage feature: daily-updated calendar. From now on, parents and students can check the homework by clicking the calendar below, find out when will be our next fieldtrip or more.
We’ll share with you all the fun activities we’re doing in class. For our fifth grade class, we’ve been busy working on our Fort Ross projects: beading native American loomed bracelet and sewing messenger bag. Different role groups have almost finished their research. Hunters read books on sea otters. Gardeners are making soap for the trading post and will start planting in our barrel located in yard one. Artisans are decorating boxes while Militias are preparing a list of rules for the governance and safety of Fort Ross. After reviewing the recipes of Russian people, the Cooks have already prepared the menu for our trip in April.
For our fourth grade class, we are learning the different celebration of Lunar New Year. Students will be familiar with the 12 animal zodiac and the idioms that are related to it. During the next few weeks, our math will be learning geometry. While students are making paper quilts with polygons, they will also be creating story quilts with cloth about the history of California, from European exploration to the period of Mexican rule. If you have fabric that you want to donate to us, please bring it to Ms. Chu.
